Lisa Jasper, PT, PhD

Lisa has practiced physiotherapy since 1995, much of it in rural, multidisciplinary settings, including chronic pain teams where physiotherapists, physicians, and other providers work together. Her career has followed one consistent question: why do some people recover well while others do not, and what can be taught, measured, and trained to change that?

She pursued it formally: a master’s degree examining chronic pain mechanisms, then a PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Alberta, with a thesis on measuring physical activity in older adults after total knee replacement.

Today she treats patients, teaches physiotherapists how to manage pain, and publishes research in the field. She holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Alberta, where she serves as Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, coordinates the Certificate in Pain Management, and teaches graduate courses on clinical pain.

Why virtual care

Lisa spent ten years coordinating the University of Alberta’s rural satellite physiotherapy training program, and remote delivery of care is one of her named research interests. We believe where you live should not limit the care you can receive: virtual practice reaches Albertans wherever they are, with the same clinical standards as a clinic visit.
